Professor’s Video Motivates Students To Excel

“I can’t
do it!”
“School is useless!”
“I’ll never get good marks!”
So many parents
hear these disturbing comments from their kids and don’t
know what to do. Let’s face it—attitude and motivation
go a long way to getting top marks in school.
The student who
wants to be in school and wants to learn and has goals to
reach will, in most cases, do better than one who feels that
being in school is like being in prison. What makes this problem
even more serious is that competition to get into college
and university is more intense than ever before—so that
parents worry even more now about their children getting the
top marks, the “currency” of education, required
for admission.
The good news is
that help is on the way for parents struggling to get their
kids off the couch, away from computer games and their negative
friends, and, instead, motivated to do well in school. This
help comes from a new video recently released by Professor
Bernie Gaidosch called The Professor’s Secrets Video—Motivating
Students To Learn And Excel.
Over the past few
years, Professor Bernie Gaidosch has become well known as
“Professor Bernie” to thousands of radio listeners
across North America. He’s called the “plain language
professor” who shares the secrets for doing well in
school on his Professor’s Secrets radio call-in shows.
In addition to
his new video, he’s also the author of two important
books dedicated to helping students achieve better marks on
tests and exams as well as on essays. His first book is titled
The Professor’s Secrets: Breaking The Silence—How
To Write Essays And Term Papers and his second book is called
The Professor’s Secrets—How To Get Top Marks On
Tests And Exams.
“My goal
is to share my secrets to getting top marks with high school
and college students,” he said. “In my essay book,
I give students the road map to writing a great essay with
my ‘fast-track essay writing system.’ And, in
my book on tests and exams, I reveal my strategies for writing
a great test with my ‘best-on-the-test study plan.’”
Professor Bernie
went on to say that, if a student is not motivated, then all
the secrets in the world would not help that child want to
be in school or do well in school.
“That’s
why I decided to do a video dedicated to motivating students.
When students watch my tape, they’ll see they can do
well and that their teacher really is their ally, not their
enemy. They’ll see that school is not a prison, but
rather the key to their freedom—the foundation for their
future. And, as far as I know, this is the first motivational
video for students.”
“The idea
for the tape came from an inspiring radio show I was on—it
was KGO Radio in San Francisco, an ABC affiliate. After the
show I was swamped with over 300 calls from parents and grandparents
who thanked me for creating writing and study techniques to
help their kids, but asking me what I have in order to get
them fired up about learning and excited about going to school.
That’s when I knew I just had to create this video.”
The video, which
comes in both VHS and DVD formats, is fast-paced and loaded
with valuable information. Professor Bernie gives students
encouragement with examples like a rock climber scaling a
cliff with sweat dripping from his forehead and saying “you
can do it—you can reach the top of the mountain with
that extra effort!” He keeps the upbeat messages moving
throughout to show students the benefits of a positive attitude
in school.
“I also use
negative images to show students what can happen if they don’t
care about school. I talk about a former student named Billy
who came back to see me after 10 years and told me he should
have listened to me and paid more attention to his education.
He wishes he’d been more motivated because now he’s
flipping burgers rather than doing something more rewarding.”
Professor Bernie
also reads a touching poem a radio caller wrote to him that
would make any student sit up and listen. The poem, called
“The Train,” is about a student who is left behind
while his friends move ahead in school: “The train is
moving / but I’m held back / I’m watching all
my friends / moving down the track / Wanting to be with them
/ all my bags were packed / While I’m standing here
/ they’re moving down the track.”
The Professor’s
Secrets Video motivates students to learn and excel with many
valuable lessons such as the following:
· motivated
students work WITH their teachers
· de-stress—don’t distress—yourself
the night before an exam
· what teachers look for
· take time for time management
· your “A” also comes from attitude
· parents CAN help their kids with school
· pump yourself up for top marks
Professor Bernie tackles each of these topics and more with
energy and in clear language. He comes across not as a formal
or aloof professor, but rather as someone who cares deeply
about students’ success. His compassion for students’
struggles comes through in his words and sincerity.
The many segments
of the video are separated into easy-to-watch compartments
so you can actually have the professor by your kids’
side. For example, you can replay his suggestions the night
before your children’s exam or for some motivation before
they go to school the next day.
Professor Bernie’s
tape also features inspirational segments like the following:
“In school, as in football, your won’t go far,
unless you know, where the goalposts are!” and “If
you shortchange your education now, you can find yourself
short of change later!” These thought-provoking slogans
put into perspective what an education truly means and why
school is so important.
In addition, he
also talks about how parents can help their children and why
bad friends can pull a child down. So if your child lacks
motivation or has a bad attitude toward his or her education,
get them to look at this video. If your children are in college,
send them a copy. Or, better yet, watch the video with them.
This is a genuine investment in their future.
As Professor Bernie
says at the end:
“When you change your motivation, you change your attitude.
When you change your attitude, you change your behavior.
When you change your behavior, your change your performance.
And when you change your performance, your change your LIFE!”
To sum it up, he
concludes: “My book on essays gives students the secrets
of essay writing. My book on exams gives them the secrets
to writing an excellent test or exam. And my video gives them
motivation and a great attitude about school. I call all three
together my ‘Success-In-School Package.’”
